Description
High Hayne Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, although earlier elements may still be present. It is constructed from white-washed rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with an asbestos slate roof that is hipped at the left end. The building features a tall front lateral hall stack with a brick shaft, along with a stone rubble stack at the right end.
While the interior was not accessible for a detailed assessment, the front range seems to follow a 3-room and through-passage plan, with the hall bay extending in line with and to the left of the hall stack projection. A service wing, which appears to consist of two rooms, extends at a right angle to the rear left side and includes an axial brick stack. There is also an outshut and a probable lean-to stair turret at the rear of the main range.
The farmhouse has two storeys and a four-window range, featuring 20th-century fenestration with 2-light casements and a 3-light window in the hall. A 20th-century lean-to porch is present at the through-passage doorway, while the 19th-century fenestration remains largely intact at the rear. The interior remains inaccessible for further details.
