Description
Pennyhop is a cottage that likely dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of painted rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with a hipped thatch roof. There is a rendered brick chimney stack at the left end and a diagonally set brick stack in the rear right-hand corner. The building has a two-room layout with a central cross-passage, and the staircase runs from the back to the front on the left side of the passage. There are lean-tos at each end, with the right end thatched and the left side covered with a corrugated iron roof. A 20th-century outshut has been added to the rear. The cottage is two storeys high and features a three-window range with 20th-century fenestration, including two-light casements. The central porch also has a thatched roof. Inside, some 19th-century joinery remains.
