Description

A farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble with a slate roof, featuring gable end stone rubble stacks with brick shafts and an axial brick stack. The original plan comprised three rooms and a cross-passage, with the lower end situated to the right. In the 19th century, the hall was divided by an axial partition to create a rear passage, and a front doorway was added to the inner room. A lean-to porch is located at the lower right gable end, and there is a continuous outshut to the rear. The house is two storeys high with a four-window front. The left side has 20th-century windows, including a pair of two-light over three-light windows flanking a 19th-century six-panelled door. The right side exhibits 19th-century windows, with two twelve-paned hornless sashes above a 20th-century door to the left, followed by a sixteen-paned sash and a twelve-paned window. Inside, the hall and inner room feature ovolo moulded ceiling beams. The fireplace in the inner room has an ovolo moulded timber lintel, and the hall has a 19th-century chimneypiece. The lower end has a roughly chamfered cross ceiling beam.
