Description
The Five Mile House Windpump, located at TG 47790984, is a drainage windpump dated 1849. It features a four-storey, tapering tower made of tarred brick, which currently has no cap. The structure includes segmental-headed doors on the north and south sides, with a datestone reading "N.M.N. 1849" above the northern door. There is one window on the east and west sides at the first floor, and similar windows on the north and south sides of the second floor. The windpump retains its curb, track, and fanstage, complete with a striking wheel. Inside, it has a cast iron windshaft, brakewheel, wallower, and crownwheel, as well as a timber upright shaft, pit wheel, and drive for the external scoopwheel.
