Description
Kerrisons Level Drainage Mill is a 19th-century windpump located in Halvergate South Walsham Marsh. It features a tarred brick tower with a boat-shaped weatherboarded cap and a tapering circular design that rises four storeys. The tower is reinforced with wrought iron bands and has opposing entrances on the ground floor, one window on the first floor, and another at the cap floor level, all featuring segmental brick arches. The cap frame includes sheers, a tail beam, a sprattle beam, a head stock, and a weatherbeam. The mill retains its track and gear, along with a cast iron windshaft and brake arm. There is also a cast iron horizontal drive shaft connected to a scoop wheel, which has wooden starts and floats. This mill is an example of a cap with a tail pole adapted for fan winding.
