Description
Horsey Drainage Mill is a mid-19th century draining windpump that was rebuilt in 1897 and 1912 by Dan England, with restoration completed in 1961. The mill features a tapering brick tower topped with a weatherboarded timber boat-shaped cap and stands four storeys high. The north side has segmental-headed double doors, while the second floor has a casement window under a segmental arch. The south side includes a square-headed window on the ground floor, and similar windows can be found on the ground and first floors of the east side and the top floor of the west side. The cap is equipped with a fan cradle, an 8-vaned fantail, a petticoat, and four stocks and sails. Inside, there is an upright shaft, a spur wheel, a pitwheel, and a scoop wheel shaft on the ground floor. The external scoop wheel has been replaced with an engine located in an attached outbuilding, and the cap contains the windshaft, brakewheel, and wallower.
