Description
Mutton's Mill is a mid-19th century windpump located in Halvergate Marshes. It was restored around 1980. The mill features a tarred brick tower with a boat-shaped weatherboarded cap, and it has a tapering circular design with four storeys. There are two doors on the ground floor, one window at the first floor, and one window at the second floor, all with segmental brick arches. The mill retains a complete cap frame, fan, and machinery, with a cap gallery added during the restoration. Inside, there is a wooden clasp arm brakewheel, a cast iron windshaft, wallower, and wooden drive shaft. Additionally, a cast iron crown wheel and pit wheel connect to the internal scoop wheel, which is the only surviving example in the Broads area. On the ground near the mill, there are two stocks, four clamps, and the remains of four 8-bay patent sails.
