Description

Halvergate Hall is a house built around 1840, constructed of gault brick and recently re-roofed with concrete tiles, with the valley infilled with a mineral felt flat roof. The building has a double pile plan and stands 2½ storeys high. There is a single storey outbuilding to the northeast and a single storey extension to the north.

The entrance facade, facing east, features two storeys with three recessed bays, which are enhanced by paired pilasters at the corners. The central bay is slightly forward and has a pediment. A central porch is stuccoed, with outer piers and inner Ionic columns, topped with a plain entablature. The entrance has double panelled doors framed by a stuccoed architrave.

On the south elevation, there are two storeys and four bays, with storey height sash windows at the ground floor. The west elevation has three bays and includes a late 19th-century two storey canted bay. The north side features four bays and is also 2½ storeys high. The windows throughout are sash style with flat gauged brick arches. The building has a rendered plinth, a brick plat-band at the first floor between the pilasters, and aprons under the first floor windows. The hipped roof is complemented by two axial chimneys, one on each of the east and west ridges.
