Description
Halvergate and Tunstall war memorial is situated at the junction of Sandhole Road and The Street in Halvergate. It features a shrouded urn on top of a four-sided column, which has inscriptions, all resting on a grey base. The memorial is enclosed by gated railings. The plinth displays the inscriptions in incised lettering.
The front face of the column states: "THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF HALVERGATE AND TUNSTALL WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES WHILE SERVING IN H.M. FORCES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE'." The names of those commemorated from the First World War are listed on either side of the column. A later inscription on the rear of the column reads: "SACRED ALSO TO THE GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL IN THE WAR 1939 - 1945 (NAMES)."
