Description
The Mautby Marsh Windpump is a mid-19th century drainage windpump that has been converted into a holiday house. It is constructed of brick and features a timber cap. The windpump was restored in 1982 and stands as a three-storey tapering brick tower with a slight batter below the curb. There is a glazed 20th-century door on the southwest side, along with 20th-century windows at each floor. The boat-shaped cap, fanstage, and sails are all restorations. The stocks and fan gear, including the cradle, date from the 19th century. The windpump also has a gallery at the fanstage. While the windshaft, wallower, and other gear are still present, the 16-sided upright shaft has been removed. There are remains of a scoopwheel pit, but the wheel itself is no longer there. A one-storey house with a dormer attic that abuts the windpump to the north is not included in the listing.
