Description
Fritton Marsh Windpump is a drainage windpump built in the mid-19th century. It features a three-storey, tapering tower made of tarred brick. There are doors on the south and north sides; the south door originally had a segmental arch, while the north door is now in a damaged state. The openings above these doors once held windows. The weatherboarded cap is still present but not in its original position. Inside, there is a cast iron windshaft, brakewheel, wallower, and clasp arm pitwheel, along with a timber upright shaft. The pitwheel used to drive an external scoopwheel, which is now missing. Additionally, there is an external engine shed that contains 20th-century traction engine gearing and a belt pulley.
