Description
Polkey's Mill is a derelict wind pump located 75 meters northeast of Seven Mile House, dating from the mid-19th century. The structure features a battered tower that is circular in plan and constructed from tarred brick. The tower stands four storeys high and has two opposing door openings at ground floor level, one on the north side and one on the south side. There is also one window opening at the second floor level. The remains of a wooden cap frame and fanstage are present, along with a cast iron windshaft and brakewheel that support the remnants of stocks and sails. Inside, the mill contains a wooden upright drive shaft and a drive mechanism for the scoop wheel. The mill has group value with three other wind pumps: Cadge's Mill, Six Mile House, and Reedham Marshes wind pump.
