Description
Cadges Mill is a derelict windpump located 160 metres north-east of Seven Mile House, dating from the mid-19th century. The structure features a battered tower that is circular in plan and constructed from tarred brick. It has the remains of a cap and consists of three storeys. On the ground floor, there are two opposing door openings on the east and west sides, each with semi-circular brick arches. Additionally, there are two ground floor lunette windows that include radial cast iron glazing bars. At the first floor level, there are circular flue openings on the north-west and south-east sides, while a window opening with a flat brick arch is present on the north side at the second floor level. The mill retains remnants of a cap frame that once supported a cast iron windshaft and brake wheel, as well as remains of a weatherboarded front gable and a pit for an internal scoop wheel. Cadges Mill is part of a group with Polkey's Mill, Six Mile House, and the Reedham Marshes windpump.
