Description

Pophole Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 16th century, with some 19th-century alterations. The structure features exposed timber framing, including areas of close-studding, and a jettied west gable with ironstone infill. Other walls are constructed of brickwork in English bond and ironstone with brick dressings. Some of the upper walls are tile-hung, decorated with scalloped bands. The south gable is also jettied at eaves level, supported by carved brackets, and showcases decorative exposed framing from the 19th century with plaster infill. The roof is tiled, featuring gables, hips, and half-hips, along with one hipped and one flat-roofed dormer. This large, Z-shaped timber-framed house has undergone minor additions and restoration in the 19th century. It has two storeys and irregular fenestration, with leaded casements. The entrance boasts massive Tudor doorframes with moulding that is stopped at the base, leading to a boarded door.
