Description

Old London is a cottage dating to the 17th century, with alterations in the early 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast walls on an ironstone base, with brick dressings visible in places. The roof is tiled, with a slope and three dormers, featuring cills at eaves level. Originally a timber-framed building, it was extended to the southwest and reclad. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with three windows above and four below. Casement windows are present, replacing what were originally two doorways for separate dwellings. A 20th-century central doorway features brick cheeks and a tiled canopy. A large, 18th-century tapered stack is located at the northeast end of the cottage. A 20th-century two-storeyed rear wing extends from the rear, with a hipped roof and painted brick walls.
