Description
The Rake War Memorial is situated opposite the east-facing entrance of Rake Village Hall, within a small enclosure on the grass verge. This memorial features a plain stone Latin cross that is raised on a tapering plinth, which stands on a chamfered base and is square in shape. It is approximately 2.4 meters tall. The front side of the plinth, which faces west, displays the main dedicatory inscription that reads, from the plinth to the base, "TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD 1914 - 1918 & 1939 – 1945."
The memorial is enclosed by a square stone-paved area, which has three dwarf brick walls on the north, east, and south sides. Four stone steps lead up to the memorial from the west-facing side.
