Description

The war memorial in Petersfield is a Grade II listed structure, built in 1922 by Inigo Triggs of Unsworth Triggs and Goulder. Designed in the Italian Mannerist style reminiscent of Michelangelo, it is made of Portland stone. The memorial features a pedestal with a moulded plinth and cornice, and on each side, there is an aedicule topped with a broken segmental pediment, thin panelled pilasters, and an eared architrave that frames an inscribed panel. At the top, it is crowned with a large baluster-like finial that holds a torch of remembrance. This memorial is noted for its unique design and is located in the town center.
