GV II

First World War memorial. 1922; by Inigo Triggs, of Unsworth Triggs and Goulder. Portland stone. Italian Mannerist style of Michelangelo. Comprising a pedestal with a moulded plinth and cornice, above which there is an aedicule on each side with a broken segmental pediment, thin panelled pilasters and an eared architrave to an inscribed panel. Surmounted by a large baluster-like finial with a torch of rememberance. An unusually designed First World War memorial, in the town centre.
