Description

Millbrook Cottage is a former pair of poorhouse cottages, now a single house, dating from the late 18th century with 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of white-washed coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, and four stone chimneys. It has a two-storey, four-bay front with two-light wooden casement windows from the 20th century, which sit under original rough stone lintels. There are two doors, one of which is blocked, also located under rough stone lintels. At the rear, there is a brick structure that oversails on cast-iron columns. Millbrook Cottage served as the village poorhouse until 1856 and is listed for its group value.
