Description

Rainow Bridge is a bridge over the River Dean, built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of buff sandstone rubble. The bridge features a segmental arch with a projecting rubble course above, a plain parapet, and a flat coping that extends into short wing walls. It was likely built around 1770 by the Macclesfield to Whaley Bridge turnpike trust and is similar in design to the Reed and Kishfield Bridges in Kettleshulme.
