Description

This is a mile post from the early 19th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with the upper part cut away, featuring a curved design that leads up to a pointed-arch back plate. The mile post is inscribed with the distances to various locations: "CASTLETON/3 MILES/CHAPEL EN LE FRITH/9 MILES/SHEFFIELD/13 MILES/HATHERSAGE/3 MILES."
