Description
Chapel Farmhouse and its attached outbuildings date from the 17th and 19th centuries. The buildings are constructed from coursed rubble gritstone with gritstone dressings, featuring stone slate and Welsh slate roofs. There is a brick ridge stack and a brick gable end stack, along with one stone coped gable. The farmhouse follows a longhouse plan and stands two storeys high with angle quoins.
The south elevation has five irregular bays. From left to right, there is a blocked doorway with a massive stone lintel and quoins, followed by a 19th-century window. Next is a three-light 20th-century window that has a 17th-century recessed and chamfered lintel with the stumps of two mullions, and above it is a similar window that originally had one mullion. The attached outbuildings, which are also from the 17th and 19th centuries, have six doorways on the ground floor and two windows above. The north elevation of the farmhouse is completely blank.
