Description
Hope Cottage and its attached outbuildings date from the late 18th century. The cottage is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with gritstone dressings and features a slate roof. It has two gable end stone stacks and one ridge stack. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays. There are two 2-light flush mullion windows on either side of a flush doorcase that has a bracketed flat stone hood. The door is a 20th-century panelled door. To the east, there is another 2-light mullion window below, and above the door and to the west, there are two similar windows. Additionally, to the east, there is a single light window. All the windows are from the 20th century. Attached to the west is a two-storey outbuilding, which has a partly light window and all its fenestration is also from the 20th century. This outbuilding has been partly converted into a dwelling and features three pairs of double doors below and three hayloft openings above, which are irregularly placed.
