Description

Fountain View Cottage is a cottage, originally dating to the early 17th century, that has been remodelled in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with gritstone dressings and quoins on the west side. The roof is slate, with a stone ridge and moulded stone copings and kneelers to the west gable. It has a stone gable end stack to the west. The cottage is two storeys high and single bay. The west gable wall features a blocked two-light window, originally three-light, with recessed and chamfered mullions and a dripmould. Above this is another blocked 17th-century two-light window with a dripmould. The north side has a flush doorcase with a stable door to the east, and a large 20th-century shop window to the west, placed under a timber lintel. Above is a 19th-century window, with 20th-century casements. The building is included on the list only for its group value.
