Description
The Old Sweet Shop is a cottage that dates from the mid-17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and ashlar, topped with a steeply pitched pantile roof featuring coped gables and a single brick gable stack. The building is two storeys high, plus garrets.
The south-facing street front was rebuilt in the 20th century and includes a blocked central doorway, a 2-light sliding sash window to the left, and a 3-light sliding sash window to the right. On the upper level, there are three 20th-century 2-light casement windows. The west gable wall features a single 3-light ovolo mullion window with a chamfered surround and hood mould, along with a similar 2-light mullion window above it and a single light window in the gable above that. At the rear, there is a 20th-century two-storey addition.
