Description
A pair of houses dating from the early 19th century, located in the parish of Youlgreave. The houses are constructed of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. The eastern house has a stone slate roof, while the western house has a slate roof. Brick stacks are located on the gable ends and ridge of the eastern house, with a similar gable end stack on the western house. Stone coped gables feature moulded kneelers and a coved eaves band.
The western house, Beech Cottage, is a single bay and the attached house to the east is two bays, both with two storeys. The eastern house has a flush doorcase with a glazed-panelled door, flanked by sash windows with glazing bars in flush surrounds. Two similar windows are above. Beech Cottage has a flush quoined doorcase with a 20th-century glazed door on the east side and a plain sash window in a flush surround on the west side. A similar window is above. The properties are included on the list solely for their contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
