Description

Stores Cottages is a pair of cottages built in the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed from coursed squared gritstone, featuring gritstone dressings, raised quoins, a plinth, and a coved eaves band. The eastern cottage has a stone slate roof, while the western cottage has a 20th-century concrete tile roof. Both cottages are two storeys high, originally designed with two bays, although the western cottage has been altered to three bays.

The western cottage features a blocked doorcase with raised quoins and a raised keystone, which is partly filled by a 20th-century window. To the east, there is an inserted flush doorcase with a 20th-century plank door, followed by a raised Venetian window with a raised keystone above the arch. On the upper level, there are two 2-light raised square sectioned mullion windows, with the western light of the western window blocked. Additionally, there is a 19th-century plain sash window in a plain surround to the west.

The eastern cottage has a slightly raised plain doorcase with a 20th-century door to the west and a 2-light square sectioned mullion window in a raised surround to the east. Above, there are two similar windows. The fenestration throughout the cottages mainly consists of small pane fixed lights or casements.
