Description
Rookery Neuk is a pair of cottages that have been combined, located on Anchorage Hill. The eastern cottage likely dates from the late 18th century, while the western cottage is probably from the early 19th century.
The eastern cottage is cement rendered, has two low storeys, and consists of a single bay. It features one opening on each floor, both offset to the right. The ground floor has a modern, part-glazed door with multiple panes, set beneath a lintel inscribed with 'Rookery Neuk'. The first floor has a small window with four panes. The roof is plain verged and does not have any chimney stacks.
The western cottage is taller, with two storeys and two bays. Its front elevation has quoined corners. The roof is also plain verged and has a short brick ridge stack on the east gable. This cottage has monolithic lintels over its openings, with one window on each floor located in the left-hand bay, both featuring two-over-two sash windows. The front door, located in the right-hand bay, is modern and part-glazed with small panes.
