Description

The Cottage is a cottage and former outbuilding, likely built in the late 18th to early 19th century. The walls are plastered and appear to be made from a mix of materials, including cob, stone rubble, and brick. It features brick stacks and chimney shafts, and the roof of the former outbuilding is corrugated. The cottage has a two-room plan, facing north with a central through-passage and end stacks, and it is two storeys high.

To the left (east) of the cottage is a single-storey block that was once an outbuilding but has now been converted for domestic use. The front of the cottage is nearly symmetrical, with two windows arranged around a central doorway that features a probably late 19th-century plank door. The windows on either side have segmental arched heads and are three-light casements without glazing bars. The first-floor windows are two-light casements with glazing bars and are half dormers, also with thatch segmental arches above. There are two additional casements with glazing bars in the former outbuilding to the left. All the windows date from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The main roof of the cottage is hipped on the right and gable-ended on the left, while the outbuilding has a gable-ended roof. The interior contains only late 19th and 20th-century joinery and plaster details, with structural timbers not exposed and fireplaces blocked by 20th-century grates. The roof has not been inspected. The cottage is part of a group of buildings in an attractive hamlet.
