Description
This is a milestone, probably from the 18th century, made of beerstone. It has an upright shaft that is circular in section and tapers towards the top, which is rounded and defaced. The milestone stands approximately 1.2 metres high and features an inscription in Roman serif capitals using Roman numerals. Although the inscription is defaced in places, it originally read "TO EXON X MILES, TO BICTON II MILES." This milestone is noted as unusual and early.
