1/84 Milestone 280m east of Glebe House

Milestone: late C18. White-washed triangular sectioned sandstone block with a shaped top. Black-painted inscriptions on west face read "To Chapel 4M, Sheffield,26M, Chesterfield 27M" and on east face "To Macclesfield 7M" and an O.S. benchmark.

One of a set on the Macclesfield-Whaley Bridge turnpike built in 1770. Others in Hurdsfield, Rainow (4) (q.v.) and Lyme Handley.
