Description
Grove Cottage and Grove House, built around 1830 for Shallcross and Sheldon Ltd, were originally the mill owner's house and are now two separate residences. The buildings are constructed from coursed, squared, buff sandstone rubble and feature a Kerridge stone-slate roof with a stone ridge and three stone chimneys. The structure is two stories high with a six-bay front. The windows in the right end bay and the two central bays consist of 16 fixed panes with a top opening casement, all set under rough stone lintels. The left end bay has six-pane horned sash windows. The door on the right has a simple architrave with a rectangular fanlight above it, while the door on the left is positioned under a rough stone lintel. The listing is primarily for its group value.
