Description
Paddock Lodge, also known as The Tea Cosy, is a former house that later served as a post office and is now a house and café. It dates back to 1823 and features 20th-century additions and alterations. The building is constructed from coursed, squared buff sandstone rubble and has a Kerridge stone-slate roof with stone ridges and two stone chimneys. It is two stories tall with a three-bay front. The windows in the end bays have rough stone surrounds and are 20th-century three-light wooden casements. The central bay features a 20th-century gabled porch in front of a segmentally arched rubble doorcase, which has raised imposts and keystones. Above the doorcase is an ornate date tablet that reads "JLH 1823." There are small 20th-century extensions on both the right and left sides of the building. Inside, the property has exposed sawn ceiling beams but lacks other original features. It is listed for its group value context.
