Description
Thorneycroft Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1752 that underwent extensive modernisations around 1980. It is constructed from coursed, squared, buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof with a stone ridge and two stone chimneys. The building is a double pile house with two parallel ridges and has a two-storey, three-bay front. It includes a slight plinth and massive quoins. The end bays have three-light 20th-century casements with glazing bars set within three-light square-sectioned stone mullions. Near the centre, there is a semi-circular headed doorcase with a prominent keystone, which now has a wrought iron gate and is accessed by a flight of steps. Above the doorcase is a date tablet reading "GB" (for Brocklehurst) and the year 1752, along with a single light window. The interior plan remains intact, but there are no surviving original features.
