Description
KETTLESHULME C.P. FLATTS LANE (East side) Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Ely Fold Cottages are three cottages built in the late 18th century, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed from coursed, squared buff sandstone rubble and feature a Kerridge stone-slate roof with a stone ridge. The original house on the left is two storeys high and has three bays. The left end bay includes two light square-sectioned mullioned windows, each with four-pane sashes. The right end bay has similar surrounds with six-pane sashes. There is a central boarded door beneath a rough stone lintel. To the right, stepping forward, is a two-unit house with a Welsh slate roof, featuring three-light horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars and a half-glazed door under a rough stone lintel. Further to the right is a house positioned at right angles, with openings under rock-dressed lintels on the gable and four enlarged 20th-century windows on the south front. To the left of the house complex is an attached corn barn that has been altered to serve as a garage, which is not included in this listing.
