Description

Milestone dated 1828, made of gritstone and triangular in shape. It is inscribed with "MANC/21" and "SHEFF/17". The Snake Pass, where this milestone is located, was a toll road approved by an Act of Parliament in 1818 and opened in 1821, with engineering by Thomas Telford.
