Description

Manor House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which underwent significant alterations and extensions in the early 19th century and was restored around 1980. The building is constructed from coursed, squared, and coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. It features steeply pitched 20th-century concrete tile roofs with moulded stone copings, a large central ridge stack from the 17th century, and a smaller stone gable end stack on the east side.

The farmhouse is two storeys high, with attics and two-storey additions. It has a two-bay lobby entrance plan, with an additional 19th-century bay to the east and a 19th-century extension at the rear. The entrance features a flush quoined doorcase with a deeply set back 18th-century panelled door, flanked by two-light flush mullion windows. To the east, there is a 19th-century gabled stone porch with a panelled door, and beyond it, another two-light flush mullion window. Above this, there are three similar windows arranged in the same way. The gables from the 17th century have three-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. All the window openings contain 20th-century single pane casements.

Inside, the original lobby entrance remains intact, and there is one 17th-century bracketed stone fireplace on the ground floor. Several original 17th-century mullioned windows are located in the internal walls, and the top of a 17th-century oak newel post can be found in the attic.
