Description
Conksbury Bridge is a road bridge built in the mid-18th century, featuring later repairs and alterations. It is constructed from random limestone rubble with gritstone dressings. The bridge has a narrow, curving design with a central segmental arch made of gritstone, which includes voussoirs and a raised keystone. On either side of the central arch are smaller arches, and to the west, there is another large arch. There are pointed cutwaters on the north side between the arches, while the south side features rectangular sectioned stepped cutwaters. The parapets are made of limestone rubble and topped with rubble copings. Additionally, there is a curved weir on the north side of the bridge. The bridge is mentioned in the 1758 Turnpike Act and crosses into the parish of Over Haddon.
