Description

The lodge, stableblock, and outbuilding at Raenstor Close were built in 1911 by H Ibberson. They are constructed from random, dressed gritstone rubble with gritstone dressings and quoins, along with some timber framing and decorative red brickwork. The building features a graduated green slate roof with stone ridge stacks and is designed in the Arts and Crafts style. It is two storeys high and has a roughly L-shaped plan, with a two-bay house at the corner, an attached stableblock to the south, and an outbuilding to the west.

The east elevation showcases a central semi-circular headed archway with an elongated raised keystone. The north side of the arch integrates into the house, while the south side is corbelled out over a chamfered jamb. Above the arch, there is a recessed section of timber framing, and below it hangs a pair of double gates that curve upwards towards the center. To the north, the lodge cottage features a semi-circular advanced bay with a chamfered quoined doorcase, sheltered by a large hood adorned with art nouveau style leadwork, and a contemporary door below. Set back to the north is a two-light flush mullion window, with a similar window above the doorcase and two more similar windows beyond the arch to the south. All windows have leaded lights. The north elevation of the lodge includes two and three-light flush mullion windows. On the west gable of the outbuilding, there is a flight of steps leading up to a first-floor door, which is framed by decorative chequerwork of red brick and gritstone blocks on the sides and above.
