Description

All Saints School and School House is a school and school house built between 1866 and 1868 by Samuel Rollinson of Chesterfield. The building is constructed from coursed squared rock-faced limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. It features a banded blue fish-scale and red plain tile roof, complete with stone ridge stacks and a simple gabled bellcote on the western gable, as well as tiny ventilation gablets.

The structure consists of a two-storey L-plan house to the east, which is attached to a single-storey six-bay school with an advanced western bay. The east elevation of the house has a projecting porch with a four-centred arched doorcase, a 20th-century door, and a plain overlight. The southern advanced bay has a central three-light chamfered mullion window with plain sashes, while the northern side features a single light chamfered window, also with a plain sash. Above the door is a small Caernarvon headed window, and there is a similar two-light window in the southern bay below.

The north gable wall has a two-light chamfered mullion window with plain sashes and a similar window above it. Attached to the west is the school, which has a chamfered Caernarvon headed doorcase with a quatrefoil window directly above. To the west, there are two triple trefoil headed chamfered lancets, with similar double lancets on either side. In the angle, there are similar triple lancets, and in the western bay, four stepped chamfered trefoil headed lancets sit under a relieving arch. Above this is a small trefoil window, and beyond it is a lean-to with twin trefoil headed lancets. The building features fixed and casement metal windows and is included for group value only.
