Description
This is a pair of early 19th century cottages, originally listed with number 1 as a range of three cottages east of Lathkill House. The cottages are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with gritstone dressings and quoins, particularly visible on the west side of number 5. They have stone slate roofs with a stone coped gable, moulded kneelers on the west side of number 5, and brick ridge and western gable end stacks. Both cottages are two storeys high and have a single bay. Number 3, on the east, has a flush doorcase with a 20th century glazed door, and a large 2-light flush mullion window with 20th century casements to the west. A similar window sits above, and a 20th century flush window has been inserted on the east side. Number 5 has a similar doorcase and door to the east. A 20th century window is set into a flush surround, which was originally mullioned, on the west side. Another similar window is located above. The building is listed for group value only.
