Description
No. 1 and the attached railings are two cottages that have been converted into a single house, dating from the early 19th century, with various alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared limestone, featuring gritstone quoins and painted dressings. It has a stone slate roof with a brick gable end stack on the east side and a stone-coped gable to the east, complete with moulded kneelers.
The house is two storeys high and has two bays. There is a slightly off-centre flush doorcase that contains a 20th-century glazed door. On either side of the door, there are tall 2-light flush mullion windows fitted with 20th-century glazing bar casements and fixed lights. To the far west, there is a blocked doorcase. Above, there are two similar windows with plain sashes.
At the front on the east side, there are iron railings with pointed finials set on a low stone wall, which curve around the front of the house to dressed gatepiers with rounded tops. The gate is designed in a style that matches the railings.
