Former Kennels And Yard Walls Circa 300 Yards North Of Biddlestone Home Farm

The former kennels located approximately 300 yards north of Biddlestone Home Farm, likely built around 1844, are now used for farm storage. Constructed from ashlar stone with a Welsh slate roof, the building is single-storey and features nine bays, with three-bay shelter sheds attached at each end.

The central section, which slightly projects and has a cross-gabled roof, contains a boarded double door with a six-pane overlight and narrow sash windows on either side. Above the door is a roundel with a moulded frame.

Each outer section has a central boarded door flanked by windows, which are mostly boarded up now, though one window remains as a 12-pane sliding sash. The cross gable features flat coping, kneelers, and an octagonal finial.

The hipped roof is topped with two octagonal corniced ridge stacks. The shelter sheds are supported by stop-chamfered square piers, and their roofs are hipped towards the outside, also featuring octagonal finials.

Attached to the kennels are exercise yard walls made of ashlar with chamfered coping. These walls ramp down at the ends of the kennels to create two yards, which are separated by a path leading to the central doorway, with the walls standing around four feet high.
