Description

This is a milestone located south of the Birdhopecraig United Reformed Church, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of sandstone and has been painted white. Originally, the milestone stood 2 feet high, but it is now only 1 foot high as it has become buried in the pavement. The milestone is triangular in shape with a rounded back. One side is inscribed with "NEWCASTLE," while the other side reads "JEDBORO 35 MILES 21 MILES."
