Description
Stobbs is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in 1724. It is constructed from large random rubble blocks and has been extended in ashlar. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features two storeys with three bays, along with a lower two-storey, one-bay extension on the right.
The central door, which dates from the 20th century, is set within a chamfered alternating-block surround that includes a lintel dated 1724; however, the lintel is newer than the jambs. The right jamb has the date 1817 scratched into it. The windows are 20th-century casements set in 18th-century chamfered surrounds. The house has a steeply-pitched gabled roof with corniced end stacks.
Inside, the walls are approximately 40 inches thick and there are several two-panel doors. The staircase features stick balusters and turned newels.
