Description
Rochester Old School House is a former school that has been converted into a private house. It was built in the mid-19th century, with a porch added in 1852. The building is constructed from dressed stone and features a Welsh slate roof. It is a single-storey structure with four bays and a gabled roof.
The porch, located on the right side of the building, is made from Roman stones sourced from Bremenium (High Rochester). These stones include several channelled gutterstones, and the ball finials on the kneelers are made from ballistae, which are projectiles used in spring guns.
There is a 20th-century addition on the left side of the building, but this is not considered to be of special interest.
