Description

Bank House and Bank House Cottage are two houses located on King Street in Robin Hood's Bay. The front of Bank House dates from the early 19th century, while the rear wing is from around 1700. The front features finely-tooled and margined sandstone, while the rear wing is made of coursed sandstone. Both houses have pantiled roofs with wide stone coping and a kneeler at the front, along with a stone stack.

The buildings are two storeys tall with an attic and consist of one wide bay. On the right side, there is a six-panel door, and to the left, there are 16-pane sash windows on each floor, both with projecting cills. A small skylight is present in the roof, accompanied by left end coping and a kneeler, as well as a corniced stone stack.

To the right, there is a passage that leads to Bank House Cottage. The long left rear wing is two storeys high with four bays and has a very irregular layout. On the ground floor, there is an 18-pane fixed light with a central opening section, while the first floor features early 19th-century 12-pane sashes. There is also a small window in an original chamfered opening on the left, and the walls show traces of older windows, likely stone-mullioned.
