Description
The Haven and The Hoe are a pair of houses located on King Street in Robin Hood's Bay, likely built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone and feature a pan-tiled roof with stone copings and kneelers, along with brick chimney stacks. Each house has three storeys and consists of one bay. The doors are centrally placed, with The Haven featuring a 20th-century stable-type door that has a glazed top panel, while The Hoe has a six-panel door, both set in plain wood frames. On either side of the doors and on the first floor, there are four-pane sash windows, although the intermediate bars have been lost, except for a replacement window on the first floor to the right. The second floor has short eight-pane sash windows. The houses have block kneelers and end chimneys, with the left chimney being tall and positioned against the gable end of the neighboring house. These buildings are included for their group value.
