Description
King's Head Cottages, located on Fylindales New Road in Robin Hood's Bay, is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and has undergone some alterations. The exterior features incised rendered walls and a pantiled roof with stone coping and a brick chimney stack. The building has a gable end facing the road and includes an almost full-height left outshut.
The structure is two storeys tall, with an attic and a basement, and consists of two bays. There is a basement door on the right, with stone steps leading up to a central four-panel door, which is flanked by sash windows—12-pane on the left and 16-pane on the right. On the first floor, there is a later 19th-century margined sash window on the left and a 12-pane sash on the right. Additionally, there is one plain attic sash window on the left. A rebuilt chimney is located at the peak of the gable. A lean-to projection to the left of the steps is noted but is not considered of special interest.
