Description
The Old Forge is a house and shop located on Fylingdales New Road in Robin Hood's Bay. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with an early 20th-century projecting shop added. The front is rendered, and it features a pantiled roof with stone coping and kneelers. The gable end faces the road and has a left lean-to that creates two bays. The building has three storeys and an attic, with a full-width shop front that includes a recessed central door and a balcony with a wooden rail above. The upper floors have plain sash windows set in wooden architraves on the right side, with a small sash window on the left at the first floor and another in a chamfered opening on the right side of the attic; the left attic opening has been blocked. There is a chimney at the peak of the gable, and the building features curved kneelers. Steps lead up on the right return, which also has two 16-pane sash windows.
