Description
The Rainbow is a house and shop located on Fylingdales New Road in Robin Hood's Bay, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It features fine herringbone-tooled coursed sandstone and has a pantiled roof with stone copings, kneelers, and chimney stacks. The building stands two tall storeys and an attic high, with two wide bays. The right side has a modern panelled double door that is partly glazed. In the center, there is a modern two-light casement window, and to the left, a four-light shop window set within a segmental former cart arch with cut voussoirs. Above, there is an inserted low two-light casement window. On the first floor, there are two 24-pane Yorkshire sash windows. The roof features two flat-headed dormers with four-pane sashes framed in wood architraves. The building has small curved kneelers and cornice-banded end chimneys. It is included for its group value.
